*** 2 IMPORTANT MEETINGS ***

BLACK- FOCUSED SCHOOL UPDATE

The drama that erupted at the November 28th TDSB meeting was a sad, but predictable example of how the critical needs of Black children are treated as trivial matters to be eliminated from the agenda at any whim.

Nonetheless, the process continues.

Many of you have already heard about the recent TDSB staff report that is recommending: (1) a Black-focused curriculum in 3 existing schools (elementary, middle & secondary) and (2) opening a new school by 2009.

Regardless of their report, the Black community must be consistent and continue to steer the agenda. It is very important that we continue to make our presence known by attending the following back-to-back meetings in large numbers:

SPECIAL PROGRAM & SCHOOL SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING

Date: Tuesday, January 29, 2008

Time: 6:00 PM

Place: TDSB Headquarters (5050 Yonge St.)

** If you wish to speak to the issue, register as a delegation prior to the meeting by contacting Board Services at:
david.tomczak@tdsb.on.ca.

BOARD MEETING - TRUSTEE
DEBATE & VOTE ON PROPOSAL

Date: Wednesday, January 30, 2008

Time: 6:30 PM

Place: TDSB Headquarters (5050 Yonge St.)

Make every effort to be present and please encourage other members of the Black community to attend.

- PEACE -
