DEMAND ACCESS TO EDUCATION WITHOUT FEAR
Rally Wednesday, April 18th
6p.m.
Toronto District School Board-5050 Yonge St.
The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) continues to
maintain barriers to education for students without
status. They have failed in their commitment to
provide access to education without fear as students
without status continue to face risks of arrest by
Immigration Enforcement, and deportation.
A year ago, 15 year-old Kimberly Lizano-Sossa and her
14 year-old brother Gerald were brutally arrested by
Immigration Enforcement while they were in classes and
were subsequently deported. After a successful
campaign by students, teachers, parents and community
activists to prevent this from happening again, the
TDSB voted unanimously to adopt a Don't Ask, Don't
Tell policy and to declare schools sanctuary zones by
preventing the entrance of Immigration Enforcement
into schools.
Nearly a year later, the TDSB has done nothing. It's
time to tell the TDSB to stop dragging its feet. Join
us on April 18th at the TDSB for a rally at 6 p.m.
Demand immediate implementation of the Don't Ask,
Don't Tell Policy. Demand the right to education for
all regardless of immigration status.
