I AM MOTHER EARTH
My habitat once housed humans hospitably
Holistically healing herbs grown from within me
But people have ceased respecting me
I mother nature home to heaven
My rich brown colours give life to the blues and greens
Surrounding me.
I WAS IN THE BEGINNING
And WILL BE IN THE END
Like the Afrikan and Indigenous peoples that remained my friends
The ones that knew my soil was never to be sold for dividends
Forests used to abound over me like the big Redwood Trees
That Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and Leila Khaled came to be
Warriors fighting monsters like Glamis Gold Mining Company
That is oppressing Mayan peasants in Guatemala while he's raping me
Taking me for a whore making me irate
Some of these children I mothered are full of more hate
Than a thugged out brother conceived during rape
In the midst of a violent earthquake
But even though my anger will make the earth shake…
I am still YOUR Mother Earth!
Why have you children forgotten my worth?
Humanity's hatred lies locked up in a hearse
Of capitalist greed, uprooting sacred olive trees
Keeping the Palestinians on they knees
Multinational demons created suicide seeds
Nina and Billie were right, strange fruit indeed
They have forced me to birth
Del Monte and Monsanto have polluted my earth
And nobody gives a damn so long as my veins bleed
Can't you see? A woman with no womb IS a fruit with no seeds
Fanon warned you that the Wretched of the Earth are being exploited
Tortured and murdered while my lands get eroded
From all the oil being sucked out from under Iraqi & Nigerian soil
The elders have warned you that you reap what you sow
Now the harvest of misery is starting to flow
My tsunami hit from South Asia to Somalia I grow
Impatient, my children's picking coffee beans on the plantations
Making pennies for themselves and thousands for the corporations
This indignation, deforestation brought about through colonization
Has me begging for resuscitation
SO...
Iraqi liberation fighting the U.S. occupation
HOLD YOUR GROUND
Palestinian children hurling rocks at Israeli tanks
HOLD YOUR GROUND
Dr Vandana Shiva, restoring my seeds to their reproductive state
HOLD YOUR GROUND
Children that have not forsaken me, your blessings abound
Look to your past, the ancestral cultures have found
The secrets to happiness in the lessons that surround
You in your everyday lives, the animals and plants
Speak a love language far removed from the traps
These devils have laid at your feet
Afrika please don't weep, karma will creep
Into the homes of those who sweep
Over innocent lands with their Cherokee Jeeps
Polluting the streets, fresh soil turned into hard concrete
These blessings and warnings I speak
Are entrenched in my roots of history so deep
The very core of my being has started to weep
Tears of saddenning joy, so much of me has been destroyed
Yet so much of me is being rebuilt,
So many of you are riddled with guilt
Not knowing what to do with the burdens I lift
On my back fighting to preserve the dignity of our past
Warrior cultures, and subsistence farming,
Now the pollution levels are alarming,
My veins are being drained of blood
But I still feel nothing but unconditional love
For all my children who are fighting this corporate sinning
I leave you with the words of an ancestral Inca warrior singing
Through the voice of the world's most prominent rapper winning
The youth over with his poetry
May Tupac Amaru and Tupac Amaru Shakur rest in peace.
"In this game the lessons in your eyes to see
Though things change the future is still inside of me
We must remember that tomorrow comes after the dark
So you will always be in my heart.
With unconditional love"
